SABLE and the year 2012
I've been told that S.A.B.L.E. means Stash Accumulation Beyond Life Expectancy. Well, if you knew what your life expectancy was, would you try to see if you could use up your stash??????
Well here it is. A new possibility for the end of the world. In case you haven't heard, five years from today, December 21, 2012, the world as we know it will end. Don't believe it? Just go to www.survive2012.com or type 2012 into your address line and you will find all kinds of information and hysteria.
So if you like to entertain those kind of thoughts, now would be a good time to take stock of your stash. Make a list of how many projects you have left to do and then divide by 5. That way, when the world ends, you will feel so much happier to know that you actually were able to use up your stash.
Of course, if the end of the world just doesn't happen, think how much fun it will be to go shopping for yarn, fabric and fleece on December 22. I, for one, will be saving for that little shopping spree. And in the meantime, it won't hurt to get all those UFOs out of the closet and get them finished.
Happy de-stashing!

TO DO LISTS .... !!!
How many do you have? I have spent some time this morning finding all the "to do" lists that I have made over the last few weeks and I have more lists than I thought. It will take some time to combine them all and make one master list. At least some of the "to dos" have already been done and some are repeats of what is on another list. Hopefully, when I get those that are left onto one list, it won't be as long as my arm.
Today is going to be a very productive day. I have set aside the entire day to work on my knitting and quilting. The weather is starting to cool off and it is a gray day. Sort of the soft and quiet day that I like and makes me feel cozy to stay at home with a cup of tea and work on my projects. I'll also spend some time looking through my stash to decide what I'll do next. If I was a "good girl", I'd work on a UFO. But then I guess you would have to define "good" for me to take note of what that term might mean. Right now, "good" means doing what makes me happy. I like the sound of that. I think I'll get some fabric and make a banner to hang up ............. DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY!
So today, let me encourage you to do at least one thing that makes you happy!

Grandpa got run over by a reindeer....
Well......if you live in the country, it's very likely that one night you will collide with a deer. My sweetie was on his way home from work last week when a thump, smash, and crash interrupted his usually uneventful drive down dark country roads to our small town. He never saw it and apparently, it never saw him. After realizing what had happened and that he no longer had a side mirror, he turned around and went back to where he thought the accident might have occurred. No deer in the road, only a little broken glass from his mirror. Deer poo on the door will tell you how scared the deer was. Thankfully, my sweetie was able to stay on the road so the damage to the car was only the dents that the deer caused. At this point we are just hoping that she wasn't one of Santa's reindeer or we could be in deep doo doo for sure. And we thank the angels that were watching over my sweetie keeping him safe.

WRONG!!!!!
Wow! Did I really think that I would be home by mid-afternoon from an eye appointment? I should have known better. Not only was the doctor's office quite a distance from home but the traffic between here and there was horrendous. I got home at 5:00 p.m. Needless to say, I didn't get the projects started. Would I have started them if I had gotten home mid-afternoon? NO! My eyes are dilated. My pupils are like saucers. I can't see anything clearly. I won't be using sharp scissors or a sewing machine until tomorrow. I love my fingers too much.
Now I just need someone to fix dinner. I'm not touching a hot stove either!!!

This week is sewing
Today was a day with family and friends. Fun stuff. An afternoon party at my son's house and dinner here with friends. All went well and we had a terrific day.
Tomorrow, I begin two new projects. Eight curtains from the bolt of stripe fabric and a snowman banner from scraps and fat quarters. I also have appointments that will take me away from home until the middle of the afternoon so I really hope that I will still have energy left when I get home to get started on these projects. I'll let you know how it goes.

More Mittens....and stuff
I have the last two pair of mittens done for Christmas. Now each of last year's hats will have a matching pair of mittens to go with it. Working with metal double pointed needles for the last couple of weeks has made me decide to replace them with wooden needles. I could really feel the cold on the fingers from the metal needles. Now, I'll be making some wrist warmers with "warmer" needles.
Today is the day we put up the Christmas tree. The cats are already trying to get into the box the tree is stored in. Last year, they were just kittens and keeping them out of the tree was nearly impossible. I was hoping that this year would be different. Time will tell. By this time tomorrow we will either have a beautifully decorated tree or a tree with cats in it. My dear little faithful companions......

Midnight at the oasis
Well not exactly midnight....and....not exactly the oasis. But certainly the local watering hole for my three kitties. They absolutely love running water and will follow you down the hall hoping that you will turn on the water for them. It's always the same. Teddy barges in to be first and then Sunny follows. Daisy will wait until they are done and then, having the water all to herself, calmly drink her fill. Then I get to wipe paw prints off the vanity and water sprinkles off the mirror. Such fun critters, kitties are.
